SPP use a rotary dryer to dry crushed oil shale particles. The orange surface in the animation shows the shape of the gas flame in the combustor section of the dryer. The blue and green surfaces show how cooling air mixes in the combustor. Later in the animation particle tracks show larger shale particles falling from lifters in the dryer with their color indicating their temperature.
