MINI-SYMPOSIA - CFD modelling of
oil and gas applications

The world economy is heavily dependent on oil and gas. With reducing supplies there is increasing pressure on extracting more from current and smaller fields. Also upgrading of oil sands, oil shale, coal and other lower grade hydrocarbons to synthetic crude oil and syngas is becoming increasing viable. Be it flows of oil-water-sand in pipeline, Fischer-Tropsch conversion or refining of FCC refining multiphase flows and reactions are common place and vital for improving existing and developing new oil and gas processes. CFD has the capability to incorporate reactions and complex multiphase flow and thus lead to better understanding and improvements in this field.

Contributions from authors are invited on, but not limited to, the following topics for inclusion in the mini-symposium:

      • FCC reactors,
      • Fluid Cokers,
      • Refining processes,
      • Fischer-Tropsch reactors,
      • Hydro-cyclones, scrubbers and other separation technologies,
      • Multiphase Pipeline flows,
      • Subsea systems, and
      • Offshore structures.
