CFD-Online is a service designed to give our clients greater flexibility and control over CFD work that we would otherwise have to do for them. It is most suited to jobs that need to be run many times over with slight changes to input parameters or geometry, and where the client already has some knowledge of how to interpret graphical CFD output.
How Does it Work? Clients liaise with CSIRO Minerals' core CFD team and discuss their requirements of the CFD job. CSIRO would then construct a generic model of the process that is to be simulated, allowing the required changes to be made to input parameters and/or geometric conditions.
Once the model has been set up, clients are issued with a user name and password that allows them access to the model over a secure internet connection. The model can be accessed using any graphical web browsing tool such as Internet Explorer or Netscape.
Clients specify the operating conditions they want to model, are informed of the cost of the modelling run, and submit the job.
Depending on the job being run, it may take up to 24 hours to complete the run. Once the run is complete, the client is notified by email and can then log back into CFD-Online and view the results directly on screen.
If you feel you have a job that may be suitable for interfacing through CFD Online, or would simply like to discuss your modelling needs, please contact Dr Phil Schwarz using the details in the right-hand menu.
If you are an existing client of CFD-Online, please log in now using the "login" button above.
