is pleased to have hosted the ninth international conference
on the application of CFD in the mineral processing, metal
production, power generation, chemicals, food, oil and gas
and other industries. CFD is proving an invaluable tool in

The conference's opening address was
Dr Phil Schwarz.
Keynote speakers were:
Prof. Martin Sommerfeld, University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany
Prof. Rajat Mittal, Johns Hopkins University, USA
Mark Davis, Rio Tinto, HIsmelt, Australia
Scott Thibault, CPFD Software, USA
Djamel Lakehal, CEO of ASCOMP, Switzerland
Markus Braun, ANSYS, Germany
The conference focused on the
application of CFD in the oil and gas, metal
production, mineral processing, power generation, chemicals,
food and other process industries.
The conference continued a successful series of meetings aimed
at promoting and advancing the application of CFD in the minerals
and process industries where technologies often involve challenging
aspects such as multiphase flow, combustion, phase change,
non-Newtonian flow, etc.
The program presented papers on a wide variety of applications
including coal combustion, hydrocyclones, casting, fluidised
beds, smelting, furnaces, slurries, steel making, crystallisation,
stirred tanks, bio-engineering, granular flow and many others.
