This animation shows a series of velocity plots indicating the changing gas flow in a high mass-loading cyclone. The initial vertical plane shows the high swirl velocity (blue out of the screen and red into the screen) that occurs at the radius of the gas outlet tube. Next is shown a surface of constant vertical velocity showing the central upward moving vortex that removes gas from the cyclone. A series of horizontal planes show the swirl velocity at different heights in the cyclone.
