Dust Lift-off from Conveyor

This animation shows purple velocity vectors of the airflow over a section of a long conveyor system. Animated particle tracks show how different diameter particles are blown off the pile of material on the conveyor. A lift-off model is used to predict the amount of each size of particle lifted from the pile's surface at each position on the conveyor. Different shield designs, to reduce dust lift-off, were assessed using the CFD model.

If the animation does not load or is of poor quality, try running this compiled Smacker file: so4.exe (0.6MB).

Note that this is an executable file, and should be suitable for all PCs running Win95 or later. For more information about Smacker and its compiled executables, please follow this link.
